Default May 29, 2008 Update

Update - Thursday, May 29, 2008
[edit] Support Features

Added the "Test My Computer" option to the login screen. Clicking this link launches a diagnostic test that measures:

* Adapter settings
* Network connections
* External address
* Server connectivity
* Network paths
* DirectX diagnostics

When the test is complete, click "View Results" to open a text file with a list of the testing results. These results are useful to diagnose connection and playability problems, and will lead to faster resolution of open support tickets. This file is saved to your root Guild Wars directory, which is by default located in C:\Program Files\Guild Wars on Windows XP, and C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Guild Wars on Windows Vista.

Added a hotkey combination to address a video problem where the screen resolution would sometimes get stuck in a higher mode than the computer could render. Holding down CTRL-ALT-SHIFT while launching Guild Wars will now reset the resolution to 800x600.
[edit] Bug Fixes

* Fixed a bug that caused some disguise tonics to interact improperly with Junundu form in Guild Wars: Nightfall.
* Fixed a bug that caused the Ranger skill Distracting Shot to not receive a damage increase from some Preparations.
* Fixed a bug that caused the Paragon skill Cruel Spear to inflict Deep Wound even if it was blocked.
* Fixed a bug that caused the Paragon skill "Brace Yourself!" to not affect self-knockdowns, such as Grapple.
* Fixed a bug that caused skill templates that included PvP skills to become blank when the template name was changed.

[edit] Miscellaneous

* Scrolls of Hero's Insight received from the Imperial Quartermaster in Kaineng Center will now appropriately stack with the same scrolls bought from scroll traders.
* Spafrod Iceblood in Sacnoth Valley now correctly drops his own green item instead of Lord Glacius' Staff.
* Sol Pyrrhus in Stingray Strand can now craft armor rating 51 Monk Pants.
* Updated the sale value of Tempered Glass Vials to match their crafting cost of 20 gold.
* Clay Bricks have been removed from all material crafter inventories.

****Meh, I was expecting more PVE skills revertion kinda update....oh well!!!!!

Also, I wonder who actually cares about this stuff, who wastes their time on fixing it, and most importantly, why did they think they need to fix it now?

People who actually play through the game without getting run to droks, maybe?

At least they're fixing stupid bugs that have been there since the beginning of time. People bitch about them being there and not being fixed, now they bitch about them being fixed because "nobody cares".

Yes, but why did they fix them NOW, after 3+ years? It's stupid them doing it now, after so long...they should have just left them there, or dealt with them properly when they first happened.

Exactly, sorta like deciding to give up smoking after being diagnosed with lung cancer it seems somewhat pointless as the damage has already been done lol.

But in fairness the update did fix a few issues and added a tech tester thingymabobber that will hopefully speed up replies to support tickets. Which is good since the length of time it can take for a reply from support is just astonishingly poor.

Because that new player that starts today will get level 51 monk armor.

Bugs need to be fixed. Even typos. Just because it's not earth shattering to you specifically it was still a bug that needed to be fixed.

It's probably a dirty job for new programmers cleaning up the long list of known bugs to become acquainted with GW's inner workings.

Actually, it's just a shortcut to the "gw.exe -diag" command line option that has been in the game since forever. Though it makes tech support's life much easier not having to explain how to change stuff in the game's windows shortcut.

Haha, yeah Anet's version of getting the work experience kid to sweep floors and fetch coffee, they have to fix 3 year old bugs.

Eh, bug fixes with incorrectly functioning skills are always good.

Find that new GREEN!!

As for the "test" your computer option, feels like more GW2 experimentation with features. My only concern it will now be easier for hackers to get your diagnostic file (always in the same place, easy to find) and obtain your IP and other information that could make stealing accounts easier. Granted, that could just be paranoia.

i think they bitch because there are a lot of other bugs in the game that are more annoying like all the gwen armors which have truble being dyed and have little red spots. or how a lot of weapons clip though peoples armor. or the cape it self and how it clips. or like the nurmurs places that people get stuck like the gates in some of the ab maps.

I guess Devs actually read these forums. I totally made a topic about Distracting Shots not adding damage from some preparations in the Game Bugs forum.

SnipiousMax closed the thread saying it's not actually a bug. HA!

About the green... tried seven times and still no drop. He's definitely got one low drop rate or I'm just that unlucky.

About the concern over hackers... you're not the only one with that thought in mind about easy obtainable IP/info.

* Spafrod Iceblood in Sacnoth Valley now correctly drops his own green item instead of Lord Glacius' Staff.

I checked the wiki Wikia info for the said Charr Boss, no name for his new green. Curious if its a Staff, wand, or off-hand?
